Good Circumstance Women's Library

Good Circumstance is a non-lending library to support adult women experiencing housing, financial, and social instability, including challenges related to mental health and substance use. We are open to all women and women-identifying individuals.

We’re part of a larger ecosystem of care. Organizations like Rose Haven provide essential services to women, often under real constraints of time and resources, and their work is critical.

What we’re building is complementary. Good Circumstance is a daytime library and cultural space in Old Town where women experiencing homelessness, housing, financial and social instability can slow down, regulate, and spend time in a calm, supportive environment.

We believe that access to books, art, and quiet is not a luxury. It is foundational. When the nervous system settles, even briefly, it creates the conditions for connection, curiosity, and imagination.
